Tere,

"About Your research in the Estonian archives, there are a few Knorrings that I am VERY interested in getting information about. You see, almoste every relative in the Baltic countries are known to us, thanks to three different researchers, active from the beginning of 1900 until 1999. Therefore, our genealogy is cleard up from the first Knorring, an Heinrich Knorr, who arrived to the Baltic countries in 1405, he came from mid-Germany. After him we have a clear genealogy of 1 639 (!) descendants, plus marriages."

"However, theres are a 3 problems. I have found (via the internet!) 3 Knorring-branches in Russia and Belorussia. You see, during the Swedish wars against the Tsar, in 1700 and 1800, and when the Baltic countries (and Finland) was ruled by Sweden, Baltic citizens (like the Knorrings) was active as soldiers and officers in the swedish army. Therefore, they where forced to participate against Russia. And all of them did not come back! Some were kept as prisoners of war, and some settled down there and started a new life.
I think that these 3 branches are of such origin. And I have also indications showing that they originate from one of the Baltics countries.
So, my whish to You is to keep Your eyes open for the following datas (note: dates can differ some weeks as usual, due to different calenders, and excuse me for bad "russian" spelling):
1. Baron Nikolai von Knorring, born 1844 26/6 dead 1905 4/10. Married 1st to Alexandrine Caroline Luise Catharina von Baranoff, born 1840 10/1 dead 1886 8/2. Married 2nd to Ljubow Stegelman.
We know all his ancestors, plus that he had children born before 1886 8/2 with his 2nd wife. All kind of information of these childrens are of interest.
2. Grigorij von Knorring, born at the end of 1700. And that is all datas we know of about him. One of his sons was:
3. Nikolaj Grigorjevitj von Knorring, born 1828 dead 1910. Married 1876 with Elizaveta Andrejevna, born 1859 dead 1882.
So, these are what is of our interest. Do You think You will be looking in archives containing these years? If so, I will be most greatful for any kind of copies. And I will also contact the board of our family society and tell them. I am sure they will feel positive to contribute to You for information about these "lost relatives". .... "
tervitustega
